It’s #National Almond Day!

What’s So Great about Almonds Anyway?

Almonds are one of the healthiest super foods out there. Almonds were found to originate in the Middle East. However, the United States is now the world’s largest almond-producer. Almonds make up a massive $4.3 billion dollar industry.

That’s a lot of nuts.

The consumption of these precious nutrient-dense nuts date back to 4,000 BC. Though the wild bitter almonds contain toxic chemicals in them, the domesticated “sweet” almonds are completely safe and are amazingly beneficial for health and beauty. It is why our RapidBrow® Eyebrow Enhancing Serum employs sweet almond extract to help enhance stronger, longer, and darker-looking brows. How sweet is that?

Health:

In the world’s “blue zones” (areas of the world where people live significantly longer than average) the inhabitants ate nuts daily. (Their diets, to no one’s surprise, mostly consisted of whole foods- nothing processed, and they didn’t even know what soda was.)

The health benefits of natural, raw almonds cannot be understated. The nuts are rich in biotin, Vitamin E, manganese, copper, Vitamin B3, calcium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, and contain the highest protein content of all nuts. Almonds are a fabulous source of fiber, necessary for optimum gastrointestinal health. Magnesium is a powerful mineral that promotes heart health and also helps with blood sugar regulation.

heart health

Almonds have been shown to combat diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, lower cholesterol levels, and even to reduce the likeliness of developing Alzheimer’s. The plentiful amounts of healthy, unsaturated fat is super-essential for optimum neurological function and heart health.

Heart & Brain…kind of important.

Weight-Management:

As almonds contain the highest protein and fiber content of all nuts, they have an amazing satiating effect on our appetites. That is why, in study after study, almond consumption has been shown to reduce daily calorie intake. It is similar to the effect of eating an apple every day. The fiber is great for digestion and makes us feel fuller for a longer amount of time.

“No, I’m not hungry; I had like 5 almonds already.”

Beauty:

In the beauty world, sweet almond extract is also something to rave about. Sweet almond extract can be found in the RapidBrow® Eyebrow Enhancing Serum as well as the RapidHair™ Hair Volumizing Formula. Sweet almond oil is the results of cold pressing sweet almonds, yielding rich liquid that contains proteins, vitamins and minerals. The extract provides a film-forming effect on hair fibers, leaving the shaft soft, shiny and brilliant. The rich oil also helps to improve hair manageability. Lastly, almond extract is used in our formula because it also has the ability to lock in moisture and add shine, sheen and softness to brow hair.

How to Sneakily Add Almonds into Your Life:

Add to:

  • Hot Oatmeal
  • Morning smoothies
  • Salads
  • On a salmon filet
  • Sautéed vegetables such as spinach, asparagus, or green beans
  • A Homemade chicken salad recipe
  • Homemade coconut bars
  • Don’t forget the almond butter. Pair with apple slices.
  • Don’t forget about almond flour (or coconut flour), a great substitute for normal flour.

Happy munching. May this be the day you say ‘YES’ to almonds next time to pass them in the grocery store. 😉
