All the colors!
What is the pigment that gives skin color called?
Melanin*,melatonin, biotin, genetics
The answer is melanin, of course. Melatonin would be nice for those of us that can’t sleep (sigh) but won’t do much to your skin color. Skin color can range from very light to very dark, depending on how much melanin the body produces. The more melanin, the darker your skin. Who knew?
Here today, gone tomorrow!
Your skin sheds dead skin cells daily, but how long does it take for your body to reveal a completely new layer of skin?
10 days, 28 days*, 45 days, 62 days
28 days! Whoa! Our body has its work cut out for it. It’s working day and night to keep our skin looking fresh and vibrant. Even while you sleep your body is doing its job and shedding that skin. Your body can always use a little help though, so that’s why it’s so important to exfoliate. RapidRenew does the work for you so you can flaunt a smoother, brighter face. Why spend money on expensive skincare and makeup, just to layer it on to dry dead skin. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!
The many scar stories!
Most of us have at least 1 scar on our body throughout life. Which one of these statements are FALSE about scar tissue?
Scar tissue cannot grow hair, Scar tissue does not have sweat glands, Scar tissue is more flexible than normal skin*, Scar become paler and flatter over time
A scar is different then normal skin because it has a different structure. This is why scar tissue looks so different. This makes the scar LESS FLEXIBLE and weaker than the original skin. It’s ok, we all have them! Embrace them because they’re a part of your life story.
A solid foundation!
When testing makeup, where is the best place on your body to color match foundation?
Top of hand, Inside of wrist, Neck or jawline*, Cheeks
For years makeup artists have been telling us to test foundation on our jawline BUT recently they have been leaning more towards the neck. Matching your foundation in this area will give you the most accurate, natural look so you done see a drastic color shift from your neck to you face. Subtly is key!
What’s that smell?
Which classification of perfume has the highest concentration of fragrance?
Eau de Toilette, Parfum*, Eau de Cologne, Eau de Parfum
Every fragrance classification will have a range, but the highest concentrated and most expensive classification is Parfum. Its concentration is generally between 20% to 30% but can range from 15% to 40%. This fragrance will last the longest…usually 6 to 8 hours. If you are looking for a scent to last all day, this is your best bet. Next in line is Eau de Parfum, which ranges from 15% to 20% followed by Eau de Toilette, then Eau de Cologne, which are less expensive options.
Stress can have a big impact on your body, including your skin! Which one of these hormones is referred to as the “stress hormone”?
Thyroxine, Progestrone, Cortisol*, Insulin
The answer is Cortisol. Cortisol is one of the hormones that impacts your skin the most when you are stressed as it tells your glands to produce more oil, which makes your skin more prone to acne and other skin issues. Stress can also aggravate skin conditions such as psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema. So be more Zen. Take up yoga or another activity to focus your energies on something good for your body.
It’s a very big world!
Beauty standards across the world are vastly different! Which one of these statements is FALSE about beauty standards?
Women in Asian countries prefer pale skin, Women in Iran have surgery to get thin, sloped noses, In Nigeria curvier women as the most sought-after, Russian woman, along with the French prefer “au natural”*
Although natural beauty is cherished, Russian woman may have coined the phrase “More is more.” They tend to spend excessive amounts of time applying makeup, wearing beautiful clothing and other extravagant things to make them more beautiful. Vastly different from the French who believe “au natural” is more beautiful.
A not so healthy glow!
Sun tanning can be damaging to your skin but the trend has been popular for decades. Who accidently started this tan skin trend?
Ann Margret, George Hamilton, Brigitte Bardot, Coco Chanel*
The suntanned look can be traced all the way back to Coco Chanel. She was accidentally sunburned on a cruise in 1923, which started the trend that has yet to stop. Thankfully for many, spray tans and self-tanning lotions have been developed to safely get the look without baking in the sun or tanning bed.
Pump up the jam…or not? Hmmm.
Which is TRUE about PUMPING your wand on the most popular and widely used cosmetic on the market…Mascara?
Pumping dries out mascara*, Pumping warms up the product, Pumping evenly coats the brush, Pumping eliminates clumps
Ladies… Pumping your wand DRIES THE MASCARA OUT. So eliminate the PUMP and go for the twist or swirl! Pumping is bad for so many reasons… It forces all that outside air inside the tube, drying the product, not to mention it allows bacteria to enter as well. You are also over saturating the brush causing a big clumpy lash mess. Boo! Make your mascara tube last and just swirl the wand gently for a more even, clump free application.
